    Your Role as a Solar Sales Representative

    As a Solar Sales Representative, you'll help homeowners, businesses, municipalities, and nonprofits take steps toward energy independence. You'll work with warm leads, conduct on-site solar surveys, and collaborate with our design and engineering teams to develop custom solar solutions.

    You’ll play an important role in both sales and education—attending community events, trade shows, and representing Sundog Solar across Maine with professionalism and heart.

    Sundog Solar is seeking a motivated and experienced Engineering Manager or Director of Engineering to join our team and lead the technical design and development of solar PV systems across Maine. This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to grow into a leadership role by proving themselves through collaboration, consistency, and excellence in their work.

    About the Role

    This position is responsible for overseeing the design and engineering of residential, commercial, and off-grid solar PV systems. You'll collaborate with sales and operations teams to ensure each project is designed to meet local permitting requirements, utility interconnection standards, and customer expectations.

    You’ll be expected to support our team with integrity, communicate clearly, and align with our values of quality, service, and community.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design solar PV systems from 1kW to 2MW using industry-standard software

    • Create system layout plans, one-line diagrams, site maps, and performance models

    • Coordinate with internal teams to deliver clear scopes of work for installations

    • Ensure all designs meet Maine’s building codes, NEC requirements, and local permitting standards

    • Manage the PE verification process and collaborate with third-party engineers when needed

    • Maintain project documentation and oversee quality control on design deliverables

    • Support our field teams with technical guidance and remote troubleshooting

    • Stay current with solar technologies, products, and utility interconnection processes

    • Lead or contribute to strategic planning and workflow optimization within the engineering department

    Who We're Looking For

    • Experienced solar PV designer or engineer (3+ years preferred)

    • Comfortable working on both residential and commercial scale projects

    • Skilled with AutoCAD, PV design and modeling tools, and energy analysis

    • Familiar with Maine’s permitting environment, climate, and code requirements

    • Strong communicator with the ability to explain technical details clearly

    • Someone who thrives in a team environment and values respect, collaboration, and accountability

    • Eager to grow into (or continue in) a leadership position while working closely with our existing team and aligning with our internal systems and structure

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field preferred

    About the Role

    This role is responsible for managing and growing Sundog Solar’s brand visibility across digital, print, and in-person channels. From social media and newsletters to local outreach and website content, you’ll be the voice of Sundog’s mission—both online and in our communities.

    You’ll document job sites and company events, create consistent branded content, help manage the website and blog, and oversee external communications that support sales, recruitment, and education.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and manage a monthly content calendar across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube

    • Write and publish engaging social media posts, blog articles, and newsletters

    • Capture and curate high-quality content from job sites, events, and team activities (photo + video)

    • Update and maintain the Sundog Solar website via Squarespace

    • Oversee and refine Google ad campaigns, including video ad support

    • Create graphics, flyers, and marketing materials using Canva or Adobe tools

    • Lead marketing efforts for recruitment, promotions, and seasonal campaigns

    • Coordinate community outreach efforts, tabling events, partnerships, and public-facing initiatives

    • Track performance analytics for marketing campaigns and adjust strategies accordingly

    Qualifications

    Solar Installers at Sundog Solar work on a wide range of residential, commercial, and municipal projects throughout Midcoast, Central, and Downeast Maine. From rooftop arrays to ground-mounted systems, you’ll help deliver high-quality solar installations that reflect our values of craftsmanship, safety, and reliability.

    Whether you're just starting out or bringing years of experience, we have roles available for both new and seasoned installers—with opportunities to grow within the company.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on homes, businesses, and municipal properties

    • Support crew leaders and electricians in system layout, racking, and module placement

    • Load/unload equipment and materials; prep and clean job sites

    • Use hand tools, ladders, and safety gear to perform rooftop and ground-mounted work

    • Assist with basic troubleshooting and maintenance of installed systems

    • Communicate with team members and clients in a respectful, professional manner

    Entry-Level Solar Installer Expectations

    • Comfortable working at heights and in varied weather conditions

    • Able to lift 50–80 lbs safely and consistently

    • Familiarity with hand tools and basic construction practices

    • A strong team player with good communication and work ethic

    • Willingness to learn and grow into a long-term solar career

    Experienced Installer Qualifications

    • Previous solar PV installation experience (required for higher-level positions)

    • NABCEP certification and/or Maine electrical license preferred

    • Strong understanding of solar system layout, tools, and safety protocols

    Sundog Solar is seeking Licensed Electricians (Journeyman or Master) to join our growing team of solar professionals. This full-time position focuses on residential and commercial electrical installations for grid-tied, off-grid, and battery-backed solar PV systems, as well as mini-split heat pumps.

    We’re looking for professionals who are passionate about renewable energy, committed to quality craftsmanship, and ready to grow with a Maine-based company that puts its people and customers first.

    Key Responsibilities

    Grid-Tied Solar Electric Systems:

    • Secure electrical permits and coordinate with utilities

    • Lead AC-side installations including inverter setup, conduit, wiring, grid intertie, voltage testing, and NEC code compliance

    • Support roof crews with safe module mounting

    • Install and wire grid-tied systems with or without battery backup

    Off-Grid Solar Electric Systems:

    • Complete full electrical setup: BOS layout, charge controllers, disconnects, conduit runs, and inverter integration

    • Connect solar array strings to charge controllers and batteries

    • Ensure full system compliance with NEC and local codes

    Mini-Split Heat Pump Installations:

    • Install 20A and 30A circuits for single- and multi-zone systems

    • Complete all necessary wiring, EMT conduit, and GFCI disconnects

    What We’re Looking For

    • Valid Journeyman or Master Electrician License in Maine (Master preferred)

    • Strong knowledge of NEC and best practices for solar PV installations

    • Reliable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented

    • Team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills

    • Able to lift 75–100 lbs and work safely on rooftops

    • Willingness to travel for installations across coastal, inland, and island communities

    • Comfortable using company vehicles and tools (clean driving record required)
